TELLES has a multidisciplinary and multifaceted sports law team, made up of lawyers with practical experience and skills in various areas of law, such as labour, tax, corporate, litigation, competition, European and public law, who are able to provide transversal and specialised legal advice to federations, associations, clubs, players, coaches, agents and investors in contractual, commercial and disciplinary matters.

TELLES offers a wide range of legal services in this area, including:

  • Disputes before the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), the Portuguese League, other sports federations, the Court of Arbitration for Sport of Portugal (TAD) and subsequent instances, the Central Administrative Court, the Supreme Administrative Court and the Constitutional Court in disciplinary, labour and national player transfer matters (training rights and solidarity contribution in Portugal);
  • Litigation before the Union des Associations Européenes de Football (UEFA), the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Lausanne (CAS) in disciplinary, labour or related to the international transfer of players (training rights and FIFA solidarity contribution) and their respective registration (including registration of minors);
  • Negotiating, signing, modifying and terminating temporary and permanent transfer contracts for players and coaches;
  • Negotiating, signing, amending and terminating sports employment contracts (players and coaches) and sports education contracts;
  • Negotiation, execution, amendment and termination of representation contracts;
  • Negotiation, execution, modification and termination of sponsorship and image rights agreements;
  • The establishment, merger and/or acquisition of clubs and/or the relevant sports companies;
  • Negotiation, execution, amendment and termination of television rights agreements;
  • Registering agents and advising them in accordance with FIFA and national laws;
  • Assisting in drafting and applying the Competition and Disciplinary Regulations.
