TELLES strengthens tax team

TELLES strengthens its tax team, head by the Managing Partner, Miguel Torres, by hiring Sofia Alves Pires and Joana Mendonça da Silva.

Sofia Alves Pires has particular experience on tax litigation and she also has been providing legal assistance to several companies. The new TELLES associate has a consolidated academic experience and she is currently attending a PhD in Legal and Economic Sciences at the Coimbra University Law School. Sofia Alves Pires also holds a master's degree in Tax from the Law School of Universidade do Minho and a Post-Graduate degree in Taxation from the Higher Institute of Administration and Management.

Before joining TELLES, Sofia Alves Pires was a consultant in a Big Four and she also integrated a leading company in the portuguese market, as in-house lawyer.
Joana Mendonça da Silva has developed her professional activity in a Big Four, where she performed leading roles, working in the areas of corporate and international taxation, national and community taxation, with special emphasis on the implications arising from the new EU Directive (DAC 6), and also in tax litigation. She has experience in reorganisation projects and tax optimisation of investments and in tax advice to multinational companies from several industries, with special focus on the energy sector. The most recent TELLES’ consultant holds a degree from the Law Faculty of the New University of Lisbon and a master's degree in Tax from the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon.

TELLES tax team, led by Miguel Torres, is composed by João Magalhães Ramalho, João Luís Araújo, André Gonçalves and Abílio Rodrigues as partners.

The tax area of TELLES has currently a team of 17 lawyers, integrated in a universe around 120 lawyers.
