Informative Note | U-TAX and the tightening of the siege on Tax Benefits

There has been a significant increase in tax inspection procedures aimed at verifying the correct application of tax benefits by companies.

In this context, in December 2023 the government approved the creation of a technical unit, known as U-TAX, which will monitor the evolution and reduction of tax benefits in Portugal.

It is therefore essential that companies act preventively, preparing all the necessary documentation to verify the requirements of the benefits used and making it available in their tax files, as defined by law.
