André Gonçalves on the advantages and challenges of setting up multidisciplinary teams

In an interview with Advocatus, André Gonçalves, tax partner and head of the International Mobility and Visas team at TELLES, explains the reasons behind the creation of multidisciplinary teams, as well as the advantages and challenges they present.
The TELLES lawyer explains that "in each operation, a partner or lawyer with "high seniority" is appointed to coordinate the work and is also responsible for setting up the multidisciplinary team. When selecting the members of the team, several factors have to be taken into account: the areas of law required, the complexity of the work and the consequent definition of the seniority of the team, and the availability of the colleagues' time to respond to the timing of the operation in question".
"The main challenge will be the need for coordination. It is essential that all teams are informed and aligned with the work and timings defined for the execution of the operation. It is up to the whole team, but in particular the lawyer coordinating the operation, to improve information and communication between the different legal teams involved in the operation. This will ensure a positive end result, which usually means quality work delivered on time to the client," he emphasised.
