TELLES appoints new Managing Partner and Board of Directors for 2024-2026

At its General Shareholders' Meeting, TELLES elected Francisco Espregueira Mendes as Managing Partner, replacing Miguel Torres.

The new Managing Partner of TELLES, who begins a new mandate for the three-year period 2024-2026, will be supported by a Board of Directors that includes Miguel Torres as Chairman, Partners Miguel Carvalho, Mariana Ferreira Martins and Gonçalo Pinto Ferreira as members, and Managing Director João Brito da Silva.

"It is a great privilege and responsibility to take on the role of Managing Partner at TELLES. It is a firm that is more than 30 years old. Its history began in 1936, and it has grown in a solid and sustainable way. Today it has a team of more than 150 lawyers, is nationally and internationally recognised and enjoys a unique reputation among clients, the surrounding community and the legal market. With the support of the entire TELLES team, I will continue the firm's path of growth and transformation, building on the legacy of Luís Telles de Abreu and the success achieved by my predecessors, Carlos Lucena and Miguel Torres," said Francisco Espregueira Mendes.

The new Managing Partner of TELLES also says that "we appreciate and count on the continued support and trust of our clients and partners, both national and international, so that we can continue to grow together".

Francisco Espregueira Mendes has been a partner at TELLES since 2001 and will lead the firm's corporate, transactional and private equity team of over forty lawyers, which has been involved in high-profile national and international transactions. The new Managing Partner of TELLES has an established track record of almost 30 years in the legal market and has been recognised as a leading lawyer by the most prestigious international directories, including Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500.

Carlos Lucena, founding partner of TELLES, is stepping down as Chairman of the Board of Directors, contributing, in his words, to a "good, healthy and careful generational transition", and will now focus on his areas of practice, including coordinating the Family Companies and Corporate Governance team.

TELLES thus continues to position itself as a highly trusted partner in the national and international legal market.
