Miguel Bento Ribeiro, associate in the Tax area of practice at TELLES, signs an opinion article entitled “The Announced Death of “SIFIDE Funds””, published in Jornal Económico.
According to TELLES's tax lawyer, recent statements by the Minister of Economy, when he referred that the Government would end tax benefits for indirect investment in Research and Development (R&D), under SIFIDE, lead to the belief that, after analysis, “... this measure has in its genesis a hooded objective of increasing tax revenue.”
“If the Minister of Economy's statements comes true, the promised investment and the Government's commitment to technological innovation are compromised. It is a loss for entrepreneurship and startups”, says Miguel Bento Ribeiro.
