Francisco Espregueira Mendes, Managing Partner and head of the Corporate, M&A and Private Equity practice at TELLES, reveals his vision for the national business law market in 2026 to Jornal Económico.
The Managing Partner of TELLES acknowledges that it is difficult to predict the future of law in 2026 due to national and international circumstances and the resulting unpredictability. However, he believes that "2026 will be a particularly positive year for law in Portugal, especially in sectors such as technology, AI, real estate, health, tourism, infrastructure, energy and M&A". He adds that the provision of legal services will continue to evolve, requiring major investments in technology and AI by law firms to strengthen their competitiveness and ability to respond to the needs of increasingly demanding and sophisticated clients.
Francisco Espregueira Mendes states that “the merger of TELLES and Deloitte Legal to form Deloitte Legal TELLES uniquely positions us in this new cycle. It allows us to maintain a culture of legal rigour, excellence and technical independence, while providing access to highly advanced technological tools and specialised teams from other areas of expertise. This enables us to develop integrated and innovative legal solutions that can provide our clients with secure, agile and strategically oriented responses in a constantly changing market.”
