TELLES lawyers sign opinion article “The ESG as a catalyst for labour justice”

Gonçalo Pinto Ferreira, partner and coordinator of the Labour and Social Security Practice at TELLES, and Bernardo Costa Fernandes, associate in the same practice, are the authors of the opinion piece entitled "The ESG as a catalyst for labour justice", published in Jornal de Negócios.

In the article, the TELLES lawyers analyse the concept of labour productivity, stating that "in a society that increasingly wants to be ESG compliant, the underlying principles of corporate transparency put even more pressure to change the paradigm of labour productivity".

The labour lawyers also point out that "with ESG, the employee must necessarily assume a new role in the life of the company, even becoming a stakeholder, positioning him as an interested party in its development as an organisation and a business. It requires them to adapt to the reality of the company and its short, medium and long-term objectives".

“It is time to face up to the need to adapt labour law to a new productivity paradigm. And ESG can be a catalyst for this labour justice, contributing to labour relations in which companies and workers are united in a permanent commitment to improving individual and collective productivity”, the authors conclude.
