RoundUp Labour | August 2025

TELLES' Roundup Laboral is a monthly publication that summarises the key legal trends and developments affecting the labour market in Portugal.

In the August edition, the following topics deserve special mention:
(i) The launch of a new Social Security simulator that allows users to estimate the value of benefits, including family allowances and sickness benefits, in specific family assistance situations
(ii) ACT's new campaign dedicated to the prevention of biomechanical risks and musculoskeletal injuries, with support materials available to companies.

We also present a summary analysis of recent relevant court decisions:

  • The obligation of employees to keep their address up to date with their employer, under penalty of communications being considered valid even if they do not actually reach them.
  • In the event of a transfer of the contractual position, it is the responsibility of the new employer to ensure compliance with the deadlines and rules of the disciplinary proceedings in progress, confirming that proceedings are not suspended with the change of employer.
  • The downgrading of vehicles assigned to employees does not imply a reduction in remuneration, provided the personal benefit to the employee remains the same.

Through this publication, the Labour and Social Security team at TELLES renews its commitment to helping clients anticipate and plan for the challenges of labour relations in an ever-changing market.
