José Pedroso de Melo discusses the topic of VAT in construction

José Pedroso de Melo, partner in the Tax practice at TELLES, will speak at the opening session of the first edition of the Thematic Cycles, which is organized by Terra Beirã and dedicated to the topic of “VAT in Construction”.

TELLES' lawyer, who specialises in tax law, will discuss the VAT framework applied to the construction sector.

During his speech, he will analyse the government's proposed amendment to VAT in the construction sector. This analysis will be based on the current framework and will highlight the following topics, among others:

  • The reversal of the taxable person and the duties of contractors
  • The impact of VAT on construction costs
  • Application of the reduced VAT rate to urban renovation in light of the changes introduced by the “Mais Habitação” programme and case law from the Supreme Administrative Court.

The session will take place on 17 October at 12:30 p.m.
