José Gomes Mendes is joining TELLES' Sports Law practice as its new coordinator

TELLES is further consolidating its position in Sports Law by appointing José Gomes Mendes, a lawyer who has over 12 years' experience working exclusively in this field. He now heads up the Sports Law practice at TELLES, reinforcing the firm's commitment to excellence and legal specialisation in this constantly evolving sector.

I am confident that my experience in the sector, coupled with the firm's culture of excellence, will allow me to deliver exceptional legal support tailored to the evolving demands of the sports ecosystem", says José Gomes Mendes.

The TELLES’s most recent Counsel has a degree and master's in Legal and Economic Sciences from the University of Porto's Faculty of Law, as well as a postgraduate qualification in Sports Law and Finance from the University of Lisbon's Faculty of Law. He has extensive practical experience providing legal advice to sports companies, clubs, athletes, coaches, agents and other sports organisations, both nationally and internationally.

José Gomes Mendes is a regular guest lecturer on specialisation courses at the University of Porto and the European University. With several reference publications in the field to his name, he stands out for his in-depth technical knowledge and strategic vision of the sector.

TELLES' Sports Law practice comprises a multidisciplinary team of sector specialists with a solid and in-depth track record built up over many years. Focused on advising athletes, coaches, agents, sports societies, clubs, associations and federations in various sports, the team is renowned for its technical expertise and practical knowledge of the sports ecosystem. This area is currently handled by a dedicated team of six lawyers, as part of a network of over 180 professionals who make up the firm.
