Ivone Rocha takes part in the workshop “RNCZ: Towards the Decarbonisation of the Shipbuilding Industry”

Ivone Rocha, partner and coordinator of the Energy & Natural Resources and Environment & Climate Change areas at TELLES, will be a speaker at the workshop “RNCZ | Towards the Decarbonisation of the Naval Industry”, promoted by Confederação Empresarial do Alto Minho (CEVAL) and Oceano Forum - Sea Economy Cluster.

This initiative marks the midpoint of the Zero Carbon Shipping Roadmap (RNCZ) project. It aims to recognise the contributions of stakeholders in the shipping industry, present the project's initial findings, and discuss the next steps towards carbon neutrality.

The RNCZ's aim is to define decarbonisation targets and trajectories for the Shipbuilding, Repair and Maintenance (CRMN) sector up to 2050, through three main areas:

  1. Reducing emissions through electrification and technological substitution;
  2. Using electricity from renewable sources;
  3. Reducing the consumption of raw materials by substituting or optimising materials or naval architecture.

To ensure a comprehensive and representative approach to the blue economy, the project is led by two leading organisations: Forum Oceano and CEVAL.

The workshop will take place on 1 July at 9.30am at the Figueira da Foz Campus of the University of Coimbra.
