In statements to ECO, Gonçalo Pinto Ferreira, partner and coordinator of the Labour and Social Security practice at TELLES, analyses the new European directive that requires employers to provide information on initial remuneration or the remuneration range associated with job offers. TELLES' lawyer, who is specialised in labour law, emphasises the importance of “articulating these new requirements alongside existing instruments, such as the Single Report and equal pay legislation, to avoid unnecessary administrative overload”.
Gonçalo Pinto Ferreira also stresses the need to ensure legal certainty and providing clear, practical guidance for companies and employees when transposing the directive into Portuguese law.
“These measures must be transformative, capable of bringing about real changes in organisational practices and contributing concretely to the elimination of persistent inequalities and discrimination in the workplace,” he adds.
