Labour Round Up | april 2025

The Labour Round Up by TELLES is a monthly publication that highlights key legal trends and issues impacting the labour market in Portugal.

In its fourth edition, covering April, the main topics discussed include the Barometer of remuneration gaps between men and women, the obligation of displaying the vacation map and the availability of training vouchers as a measure to support professional qualification. Also featured is the new digital tool OiRA, designed to assist in the risk assessment related to teleworking, along with the findings of the report by the Authority for Working Conditions on platform-based work. Additionally, there is a mention of the new digital application launched by Social Security, aimed at facilitating access to services and simplifying citizen interactions.

From a legal perspective, an analysis is provided of a ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice regarding work-related accidents during travel and a ruling by the Guimarães Court of Appeal is also highlighted, which underscores the obligation for companies to provide concrete justification, in dismissal processes.

Finally, the publication of Portaria n.º 171/2025/1 is noted, which establishes the digital processing of the medical assessment process for incapacity, contributing to the simplification of administrative procedures. A list of medical conditions eligible for the issuance of a multi-purpose medical incapacity certificate, without the need for a medical assessment, has also been approved.

With this publication, the Labour and Social Security team at TELLES once again joins its clients in anticipating and planning for the challenges of labour relations in an ever-changing world.
