Francisco Burguete, associate in the Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity practice at TELLES, signs an opinion article entitled “For the defense of freedom of expression in the online environment”, published in ECO and Advocatus.
According to the lawyer specialized in Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity, in the proposal to transpose Directive (EU) 2019/790 into the Portuguese legal system, “the Portuguese legislator once again followed the easiest path, that of the literal transposition of the Directive”.
“We find ourselves in one of the last moments in which we can question whether we are comfortable going down a path that many consider to be incompatible with freedom of expression”, says Francisco Burguete.
